Hurricane Sandy has caused devastation throughout the North East. Below are some ways you can help in the relief efforts.

American Red Cross website at american.redcross.org or via phone 1-800-RED CROSS text: "90999" to instantly donate $10.

The Salvation Army has dozens of mobile feeding units and shelters along the East Coast that are working to serve thousands in the most heavily hit areas.Visit the Salvation Army Website website at salvationarmyusa.org

Feeding America has thousands of pounds of emergency food, water and supplies in the disaster zone that it is working to distribute to the storm's victims.

AmeriCares is providing medicine and other supplies to people affected by Hurricane Sandy. To donate, visit americares.org www.americares.org.

World Vision is distributing flood clean-up kits, personal hygiene items and emergency food kits to people hit by the hurricane. To donate, visit worldvision.org

Save the Children is also working to provide relief to families and their children. Visit savethechildren.org to donate

The Food Bank For New York City has already served thousands of meals to hungry individuals and families. You can help by donating money, food, or volunteering your time to serve hot meals. Just text FBNYC to 50555 to mak a donation from your mobile device.

Don't forget about our four-legged friends! The staff of ASPCA's NYC Adoption Center are sleeping on cots at the shelter to make sure animals there stay safe. The organization is also setting up water rescue teams and reviewing grants for those who have financial needs as a result of caring for animals affected by the hurricane. Donate at aspca.org
